I’m not anywhere near my computer with its collection of photos and access to maps for documenting where I’ve been this year, but when I get to it there will be reminiscing. And some of you will have been there for some of it, which is extra cool.
Having too much fun with the action movie FX app.

A few words on A Muppet Christmas Carol:
Once you have a Muppet playing a character other than themselves for anything other than the length of a sketch, you’ve lost me.
I know that makes me a bad person.
ALSO: A Christmas Carol sucks, and teaches all sorts of horrible lessons about “job-creators” and how the poor need the rich to save them from themselves.
Things irritating me today:
The Republican Candidate for somebody else’s district who emailed me asking for a contribution to his campaign for evil.
The coworker who has called a two-hour meeting so he can watch me do his job for him.
Not sure which one is more irritating, but I’m leaning toward number 2.

Since you were wondering
Chocolate Bourbon doesn’t really taste much like chocolate at all. More like the smoothest, most velvety kiss of bourbon ever.
Opportunity Costs
In economics, “opportunity costs” are the the costs associated with the things you’d have to do instead of the thing you choose to do. For example, if you’re thinking of replacing your old car with a new car, the opportunity cost is the resale value of your old car plus the extra maintenance costs you have to pay to keep it up, because it’s old.

by GirlDetective
NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT—Hollywood star and ridiculously accomplished renaissance man, James Franco, expressed confusion this Wednesday as to why his famous peer, actor Ryan Gosling, was the subject of an increasingly absurd internet meme that relies on images of Gosling paired with academically inclined pick-up lines.
“It just doesn’t make sense,” said the...

– The Great Economic Divide Makes Everyone Poorer#page1#page1
A fairly short read by Mark Thoma that shows the basic economic soundness of a graduated tax system, why it’s good for overall efficiency, and how the alternative makes things worse for everyone, including the wealthy.
You know, if...
It was strange standing next to my ex tonight, looking at the daughter she didn’t really raise, who’s turned out to be a lovely young woman, getting married.
Stranger still to go to my former hometown and have nobody to hang with. Memphis is still hopping late into the evening, but it looks as if my friends all turn in early (I didn’t make it in until 10, but that used to be...
Addendum to the previous list of nightmarish...
Raisin cookies masquerading as chocolate chip, brought by a clearly passive-aggressive vendor.
Things making my job nightmarish right now:
• Looming deadline, because the grandboss is taking an extra week away at Christmas.
• Three days of work to squeeze into a half-day, to meet said looming deadline.
• Catastrophic hard drive controller failure.
• Posting to tumblr on my phone instead of working.

WELL, I DIDN’T KNOW! WHY DIDN’T I KNOW? OMG.
my birthday is January 13th, so. WINK.
It should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway. Your odds of getting random crap in the mail from me are exponentially increased if I actually have a mailing address for you. You can either shove it...
