Gooey butter cake is a cake that takes on its yellow coloration from cake mix, and chess pie is a custard pie that takes its yellow coloration from eggs. I’m sure that the main ingredient in both of them is sugar, though.

There was/is a place in St. Louis called The Shaved Duck that makes a dessert of a layer of gooey butter cake on top of a layer of brownie. They serve it with a glass of milk and it’s fantastic.
